About

About Ergo Workspace

At Ergo Workspace, we believe that where and how you work has a profound impact on your long-term health, daily comfort, and overall productivity. Whether you spend eight hours a day at a standing desk, hunched over a laptop at your kitchen table, or navigating a hybrid setup between home and office, the principles of ergonomics apply to you — and they can change your life in ways you might not expect.

Our mission is straightforward: to make professional-grade ergonomic knowledge accessible to everyone. We translate complex biomechanical research, occupational health guidelines, and clinical expertise into clear, actionable advice that real people can apply without a consultant on retainer. From choosing the right lumbar support to understanding how monitor height affects cervical tension, every article on this site is written with your body and your budget in mind.

Here you will find in-depth product reviews, evidence-based setup guides, workplace wellness strategies, and honest answers to the questions that keep desk workers up at night — sometimes literally. We are not a storefront. We are not sponsored by any single brand. We are a dedicated editorial team committed to one thing: helping you work better and feel better, every single day.

Our Story

Ergo Workspace was founded in the spring of 2020 in Chicago, Illinois, at a moment when millions of workers around the world were suddenly setting up home offices with little guidance, inadequate equipment, and no idea that the dining chair they chose for a “temporary” arrangement would still be their primary seat three years later.

The site grew out of a simple frustration. Credible ergonomic information existed — buried in academic journals, occupational health bulletins, and corporate intranet pages that the average person would never encounter. Meanwhile, popular home-office content was dominated by aesthetics and affiliate revenue rather than genuine wellness. There was a clear gap, and filling it felt urgent.

What began as a small blog anchored by one expert and a handful of carefully researched articles has grown into a comprehensive resource attracting readers across North America, the United Kingdom, and Australia. We have expanded our coverage, diversified our contributor network, and deepened our commitment to editorial independence. The founding principle has never changed: your health should not depend on whether your employer hired an ergonomics consultant.

Meet the Expert

Dr. Richard Posner, CPE — Founder & Lead Ergonomics Advisor

Dr. Richard Posner is a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) with over two decades of hands-on experience in occupational health, workplace injury prevention, and human factors engineering. He holds a doctoral degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed postdoctoral training in occupational biomechanics at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.

Before founding Ergo Workspace, Dr. Posner spent fifteen years consulting for mid-size and enterprise organizations across the Midwest, conducting thousands of individual workstation assessments and designing company-wide ergonomics programs for industries ranging from insurance and financial services to manufacturing and healthcare administration. His work has been referenced in continuing education materials used by physical therapists and occupational health nurses throughout the state of Illinois.

Dr. Posner holds active certification through the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE) and is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES). He has presented at regional occupational health conferences and contributed to workplace wellness workshops hosted by the Chicago Department of Public Health. He maintains a small private consulting practice in addition to his editorial work on this site.

“Most back pain, neck tension, and repetitive strain injuries I have seen in twenty years of practice were entirely preventable,” Dr. Posner has written. “The information that could have stopped them is not secret. It just was not reaching the people who needed it. That is what Ergo Workspace is here to fix.”

Our Editorial Standards

Every article published on Ergo Workspace is grounded in peer-reviewed research, established occupational health guidelines, and the clinical experience of qualified professionals. We do not publish claims that cannot be supported by credible sources, and we update existing content when new evidence warrants a revision.

Product reviews on this site are conducted independently. When we accept review units from manufacturers, we disclose that clearly within the article. Our ratings and recommendations are never influenced by advertising relationships or commission structures. Where affiliate links appear, they are labeled — and their presence has no bearing on our assessments.

Dr. Posner personally reviews all content before publication to ensure technical accuracy. Guest contributors are vetted for relevant credentials, and their articles undergo the same editorial process. We cite primary sources wherever possible, and we link to those sources so readers can conduct their own due diligence. We believe an informed reader is always the goal.
